$5k USD sounds like a lot for an Oldsmobile of almost any age.

Of any age? They're ALL Oldsmobiles. There's no Newmobiles, to my knowledge at least.

CP! I wouldn't touch a 3.1 with a ten foot pole. Never again. Had it in my Grand Prix. POS engine!

So the ignition switch on my sister's 93 was acting funny, it wouldn't engage the starter eelectronically. After being stuck at school my dad went underneath and with the key in the ON position jumped the starter solenoid under the car. In park. The car roared to life. My sister caught wind of how to do this. My dad said he would fix the electrical issues over the next weekend.

So, on her way to work my sister is I think 18 or 19 at this time, backs out of the driveway, into the middle of our relatively busy dirt road. The Cutlass stalls, she jumps under the car with a screwdriver and jumps the solenoid, she didn't put it in park. When you hit the solenoid this way it bypasses the neutral safety switch and the car lurched forward with her underneath.

The tire rolled over her arm and head, and dragged her 15 yards pinning her underneath the car with the hot catalytic converter searing her leg.

The next door neighbor heard her screams and jacked the car off of her. she walked away with fracture at the base of her skull, a broken collar bone, various road rash, a broken jaw and a large third degree burn on her leg.

Hence, CP.

Oh, good god. That's pretty nasty. Glad she walked away at least. Yes, you have completely good reason to call it a CP.

It's also a 1992 Oldsmobile. You can find better for that much.

But it's the pinacle of Gm engineering. (sarcasm)

When compared to a Cruze ignition switch maybe.

The ignition switch will last longer.

As long as no keys are inserted into it.

No, as long as some teeny-bopper doesn't put 5 pounds of keychains and lanyards on their ignition key.
